MedSym Solutions Physician Receives First Round of EHR Stimulus Payments that Require Meaningful Use Attestation

MedSym Solutions is very pleased to announce that Mitchel L. Galishoff, M.D. in Valley, Alabama, has received the $18,000 government incentive funding for successful use of electronic health records (EHR). With the support of Birmingham, Alabama-based MedSym Solutions expert team, Dr. Galishoff met the first stage of rigorous requirements, certifying his practice as “meaningful users” of health information technology and is excited to announce that the meaningful use dollars have been received via electronic bank deposits.

“The MedSym staff brought all the process steps together so that our practice successfully achieved Meaningful Attestation in a very rapid fashion,” stated Dr. Galishoff.

To receive federal incentive funding, Medicare and Medicaid eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals have to demonstrate “Meaningful Use” through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) web-based Registration and Attestation System. According to the CMS definition of Meaningful Use, providers need to show they are using certified EHR technology in ways that can be measured significantly in quality and in quantity. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 specifies three main components of Meaningful Use:

  • The use of a certified EHR in a meaningful manner, such as e-prescribing
  • The use of certified EHR technology for electronic exchange of health information to improve quality of health care
  • The use of certified EHR technology to submit clinical and other quality measures

Dr. Galishoff successfully attested with the MedSymEHR version 2.1* system on August 2, 2011 and received $18,000 in government incentive funding on August 29, 2011. He plans to use the funds to continue to invest in patient safety for the communities he serves using the certified EHR technology provided by MedSym.

Brian Driskill, MedSym CEO states, “We have an expert team of professionals that specialize in navigating our clients and healthcare professionals through implementation, registration and attestation of the CMS process to receive the incentive funding. This is further evidence of our long standing commitment to the positive results of our clients experience with MedSym.”
